Unlike traditional family photography, where everyone in the frame is smiling and looking at the camera, lifestyle photography is much more organic.  The goal is to capture your family interacting, like you do any other day, just in coordinating outfits. This can be done in your home or outdoors.  Its just a chance for you all to be together and spend some time making memories.  In the end you should just have fun together, cuddle up and relax. Families these days are always busy and on the go, a family session is a chance to slow down, love on each other, and enjoy some moments together.

You will look natural and candid

The plan is for you to act like you always do.  Playing and tickling and laughing together. I will never ask kids to smile at me, because those big cheese grins are not the ones you see on a daily basis.  You should be relaxed and not stressed about making sure your kids are behaving and being still, just play!

You will be directed the whole time

Don’t worry about feeling silly, or not knowing where to stand or look.  Lifestyle photography is in between traditional portraiture and documentary photography.  In traditional portraiture everything is very staged and posed with the photographer controlling every aspect of the image.  In documentary style photography the photographer act as a sort of fly on the wall, capturing moments has they unfold without influencing anything.

For lifestyle photography, you can think of me as your movie director.  I will give you a scene to act out, telling you where to be and what to do, but you and your family bring the emotions and the connection and adding the spark and love.

You will feel the love and connection in the photos

I chose final images to deliver based on how they make me feel.  I want you to be able to look at your images for years to come and feel the love, or feel the laughter, or fun, or movement. Your emotions will be the star of the show!
